The London Book Fair 2008

Another successful year at Earls Court saw the expansion into Earls Court Two providing visitors with direct access to the industry all on one level, new features such as the English PEN Literary Cafe and the LBF/Gourmand Cook Book Corner in addition to a streamlined seminar programme that focused on digitisation, children's books & publishing and film & TV. The Author of the Day programme also returned to this year's show with Sebastian Faulks, Alaa Al Aswany and Francesca Simon the authors taking part in events and podcast interviews about their latest titles.

Highlights for 2008 included Sebastian Faulks's interview with the Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Francesca Simon's presentation of a collection of Horrid Henry books to Cherie Blair for her son Leo and the speech at the Chairman's Breakfast by H.E. Mr Amr Moussa, Secretary General of the League of Arab States.

The Arab World was the 2008 Market Focus and working alongside the British Council, The London Book Fair brought over forty Arab authors, organised a programme of seminars for and about the Arab World and had a dedicated Market Focus zone at the heart of the show with representation from across the region.
